He married Nancy WARNICK 02 MAR 1874 in Carroll Co., Georgia, daughter of Lindsy WARNICK and Julia Elitha MATTHEWS. She was born 09 MAR 1856 in Carroll Co., Georgia, and died 06 JAN 1878 in Gallup, McKinley Co., New Mexico.

He married Delilah Sophronia STEWART 09 FEB 1879 in Taylor, Navajo Co., Arizona, daughter of Alexander Sherman STEWART and Rebecca BURKE. She was born 27 MAR 1856 in Randolph Co., Alabama, and died 14 FEB 1898 in Franklin, Greenlee Co., Arizona. She was buried 15 FEB 1898 in Franklin, Greenlee Co., Arizona.

He married Arminda Alice HENDRICKS 29 JUL 1901 in Duncan, Graham Co., Arizona, daughter of James William HENDRICKS and Lucy Susan STINSON. She was born 02 AUG 1870 in Clifty, Todd Co., Kentucky, and died 25 MAY 1975 in Florahome, Putnam Co., Florida. She was buried 28 MAY 1975 in Paran Baptist Church Cemetery, Grandin, Putnam Co., Florida.

So good to see you are keeping this going, wish I could do more to help. I have been digging and digging to unfold the mystery of our true origin without any results.
When my daughter went to Ireland, she could not find anything.
Guess we just have to keep the faith something will break.

Hi, Meri. I love your blog! Please note an error in the paragraph which begins:
“He married Arminda Alice HENDRICKS 29 JUL 1901 in Duncan, Graham Co., Arizona…”
The correct county is "Greenlee" instead of "Graham".
An interesting note from the brief life history written by my Uncle Frank (James Franklin MCGRATH)states that the first official LDS meeting in the Duncan Valley was held in the home of James Alonzo MCGRATH at his homestead on the Gila River in Grant County, NM just across the state line from Franklin, AZ.

Thanks, Carl. Actually, it was Graham County in 1901 when they were married. Greenlee County was formed in 1909. Marriage records will be under Graham County.

Thanks for the insight/correction. Is there a similar explanation for why Richmond, NM is sometimes said to be in Grant Co. and other times in Hidalgo Co.?

Hello McGrath Family....My name is Jerald(Jerry) Alonzo McGrath(67) My great grandfather is James Alonzo McGrath(dec) I am the grandson Alonzo Lester McGrath(dec). I am the son of Milton(Joe) Alonzo McGrath(89). I am the father of Jared Alonzo McGrath(42) and I am the grandfather of Jake Alonzo McGrath(14). That’s 6 generations of Allonzo! And YES...Jake has already said that he will continue the Alonzo McGrath name with his first son!
I live in Ocala Florida and have for 27 years. We also have a home in Mesa Arizona we built this past summer of 2020. My father(Joe)89, and mother(90) lives here in Ocala, Florida. My son Jared lives in Mesa Arizona. We are all still very active in the LDS Church thanks to Great Grandfather James Alonzo McGrath!!
We have four children all married in the temple. Daughter Kristin McGrath Wilson in Mesa Arizona, son Jared Alonzo McGrath Mesa Arizona, daughter Kelly McGrath Kilcrease Ocala, Fl and son Michael Allen McGrath Alpharetta Georgia
